Kauai, HI

Kauai is an island in the Central Pacific, part of the Hawaiian archipelago. It is the oldest of the main Hawaiian Islands due to its volcanic origins. It’s nicknamed “the Garden Island” thanks to the tropical rainforest covering much of its surface. It is by far the “greenest” of the islands and the lushest in all of Hawaii.

Kauai is an island full of splendor, raw beauty, and culture; an island that represents the true spirit of aloha like no other. It will come as no surprise that Kauai is characterized by its wealth of rich lands, including vast tropical rainforests, jaw-dropping mountains and stunning beaches.

Part of Kauai’s unique charm is the fact that the island has remained relatively undeveloped. Visitors benefit from this by enjoying views of Kauai’s pristine, untouched Napali Coast cliffs where waterfalls sprinkle into the ocean, its majestic Mount Waialeale and other scenic treasures such as Hanalei Bay and Haena, both bathed in hues of green and blue. Kauai’s beauty truly knows no bounds.

Relaxing and pristine Kauai is the least commercially developed of the Hawaiian Islands. Waterfalls, scenic drives and more than 60 beaches dot the landscape. Some beaches have great snorkeling, others offer child-friendly tidal pools and some are perfect for all kinds of water sports. Dry-land activities include hiking the Kalalau Trail on the Na Pali coastline, taking a day trip to Waimea Canyon and experiencing life on a sugar plantation at Grove Farm Homestead Museum. To be sure, those seeking luxury and the finer things in life won’t be disappointed as Kauai boasts high-end resorts and shopping in Princeville and Poipu.

Weather
Kauai’s weather is pleasantly warm year-round. Even in the coolest month of January, daytime highs average 78 F and the evening lows dip to 65 F. August is the warmest month with daytime highs averaging 85 F and cooling off to 75 F in the nighttime. With 2.3 inches of rain or less, the driest months range from April through September. The rainiest month is December at 5.2 inches of rain. Winter is a nice time to visit Kauai if you are wanting to see the migrating humpback whale season.
